Why hello there,
It's been another week here in Lorient!! Bah..its been another week there too I guess. Haha. Anyways, I sure hope that all is going well for all of you! I'm going to start our by answering questions this week, because I kinda feel like I got a bunch! So here we go! I'm doing super good. I'm still trying to figure out who everyone is at the branch, but it's coming I think!! Elder C is super good as well. One thing I've learned from only being with super old companions in the mission is that they always get excited to go home. That holds for all missionaries going home..at least the ones that I've met. The thing is, that isn't holding Elder C back at all I think. He is such a hard worker. So he's doing well, even if he is excited to go home.
Let's see..no, I haven't heard of anyone else going on missions, or getting married..not that I know of at least. There could be plenty, but I haven't heard! Right now, we have 3 progressing investigators. I'm sure that they will come up further on in the email! ;) We have other investigators, just not progressing for the moment.. ;( I'm still trying to get to know everyone at the branch. It's hard though. I do try to get to church early to shake everyone's hand!! That is fun. The work is very tiring. That is for sure!! I'm usually super exhausted..because we are always going! The people are mostly nice..but Ive found that there are a numerous amount of crazy people here in Lorient!! Apparently the Elders that have been here the longest have made a book, and are trying to name them all..haha. But its fun. I think that I will be staying here.
Rumor is that the mission is closing 15 equips of missionaries, because 40 are going home this transfer..so Elder C and O think that they will be closing one Lorient equip, and W and I will just become companions. I don't know what's going to happen..I guess we will see in 2 weeks!
The weather here is kinda bizarre. This morning was super clear and nice, so we were able to play basketball for a bit, then right as we were finishing, it started raining!! It rains almost every day. When it rains, it basically comes down in a blanket. It doesn't really feel like its raining, but then you are just drenched. I like Lorient a lot!! It is pretty small, but we do have a lot of little cities around it as well to adventure out to, so thats good. Everyone says this is a super small city, but I'm still trying to learn my way around!! There are no metros, and we don't have a car, so it's all walking and taking buses. Bah..I think that that is all the questions!!
On to stories from the week!! Alright, this week we had zone conference in Rennes. So to get to Rennes we had to take a train early Tuesday morning. It took about two hours. We had a really good conference! We talked about the parable of the oranges..it was given in some general conference. And this transfer we had interviews with President. And while we were waiting for interviews, he put on the new movie Meet the Mormons! So we got to watch it while we were waiting! It was super good. I'm pretty sure most of the room was in tears during that last part with the missionary..
Let's see.. This week we had a Nerf gun war with one of our investigators. So those Nerf guns came in handy!! This investigator's name is V..and he's 12. His mom is a member, and really wants us to teach him. So we do! And we have the occasional Nerf gun war. This week I had a sick day..I wasn't the one sick though!! So some sort of sickness has been going around, and I seem to be the only one that hasn't caught anything. So my sick day was on Thursday, which just happened to be the day that the Elders from Brest were coming to do an exchange with Elder W. Because they live more than an hour away, they both came here to do a double exchange with Wand O. But O was super sick. The two Brest Elders wanted to come here to work, so C took one, and W took the other, and I took the turn staying in with O. I didn't really know what to do all day, so I cleaned. Our apartment is kinda in rough shape, so I spent the whole day until 4 o'clock just cleaning in the kitchen. It was some pretty deep cleaning, I've got to admit. Then O was feeling good enough to go to DMB meeting, and after, I went with one of the Brest Elders to see R.
Man, it was a complicated day, and I don't even know if any of that made sense!! Then the next day I had my exchange with Elder W (our district leader.) So for a large part of the week, I wasn't even with C! Haha, crazy. Saturday we had a great service activity. So K, (R's mom) is buying a house currently out of our sector!! But this house is in super rough shape. So saturday we spent like 3 or 4 hours scraping wallpaper off one of the rooms in this new house. That was fun. But I decided that I hate wallpaper. Haha.
Wow, I just realized that this email is getting super long. Bare with me, I've only got a few things left! Saturday night, after scraping wallpaper, we had a rendez-vous with A. Now we didn't know exactly how serious he was with all of this, because he's been super stubborn with us recently. So last Saturday we went to his house and completely laid down the law. We told him exactly why we were there, and told him he needed to be taking these things seriously. Let's just say that at the beginning he said he would never pray out loud, and at the end, he prayed to close. It was intense!
Church was super good this week. Want to know why? J and J came to church and absolutely loved it!! We went to their house, and they were all ready to go! We went and hopped into their car, and went to church! By the end, Ju asked what was necessary to be baptized. So legit. Hopefully they keep progressing. They really want to know if this is true or not! Oh man, they are so nice.
Let's see..Well I think that that is all for this week!! Thank you all so much for everything that you do! I love and miss you all!! Have a fantastic week! By the time you finish reading this it might be next week! ;)
Love,
Elder Hamilton
