Why hello everybody!!
I hope all goes well back in the states. I'm pretty sure that you have all seen the news about France and Belgium, but all goes well with missionary work!! I can't believe that this week has already finished, but here I am once again, typing away! So..I may have forgotten to make a list of stories to write home this week, so I am left with my planner and my brain. I will be flipping through the pages to remember stories!! Here goes nothing!
First off, district meeting. So District meeting is now being held in Liege every week, so that picture you saw with the two sisters wrapped in plastic wrap was my district meeting, and yes I was in the background! Our current district leader loves object lessons, so the sisters wrapped in plastic wrap was part of an object lesson. He has done one every week, and each is pretty exciting!
So after district meeting, we got a call from A saying he was in the hospital, going into surgery! So as soon as we got back to Bruxelles, we rushed to the hospital. We were worried, confused, and amazed all at the same time. We were too late to see him before he went into surgery. We were super disappointed, and all we could to was worry, wonder, and pray. That night we had a mangez vous with the Al family. We left the hospital to go there, and had a delicious meal with them. The next day, we went to the hospital as soon as we could to see A, and to find out exactly what happened! I don't think I could have ever have guessed what happened. He was out walking on the street, when a bus ran over his foot! Then the mirror hit his head. He had to go into immediate surgery, and had two toes amputated. I was shocked. All of this happened two days after he found out he could be re-baptized! Two days! Oh? I haven't mentioned that yet. A week ago from yesterday, A found out he could be re-baptized!! He was so excited! I'm super proud of him, and I really hope for the best for him! He's so awesome.
Anyways, we were in the hospital with him, and he seemed to be in great spirits, considering all that happened..The next day we went to see a man named F De K. He has quite an interesting story. He just showed up at church. He was a less active member that no one knew about. He went less active 10 years ago! Apparently, he was wrongly accused of some stuff, so he stopped coming to church. Then one day, he said to himself, Its been long enough. I'm going back. And he came back. How cool is that? We met with him this week, and he is super cool. He's worked all over the world, including Disney. He came back to church, and is now teaching one of the classes. Yeah. Super cool.
Then on Friday, we had a service activity!! It was the first time that I got to wear jeans since the MTC! That was super weird. We were moving this hay insolation stuff from the bottom of a house to the top. With European styled stairs, carrying huge insolation stuff, things can get pretty interesting. It was super fun either way! Got a nice workout in, plus the family we did it for, the De L, were super nice and fed us very well! Plus their 2 year old daughter is just adorable, and her dad is hilarious with her. After the De L we went to visit A to see how he was doing. He was doing great! Plus he couldn't stop talking about how sweet I was..and he kissed my hand!! Haha. I was glad to see he was in good spirits. He even tried to share the gospel with every single nurse that came into his room. What a guy!
That night, we went and ate with Soeur G. She had a neighbor over from Kenya! I thought it was pretty cool, because I was in Kenya just last summer!! Saturday we went to the hospital again to visit A. He was doing well enough, that he wanted us to teach him! Then, we went to the floor beneath him to visit Mr. P! He was in the same hospital! He had a random heart attack. So two people we are working with are currently in the same hospital.
Lets see..on to Sunday!! Sunday we had church. Which is always good. After church we met with our friend C! He was sad that we wasn't able to wake up early enough to come to church. He really wants to come back! Hopefully he'll come next week! Then yesterday evening we ate with the bishop's family, The H! He is a super nice guy, with a great family. They are super hilarious, but I don't know if they try to be..haha, but anyway, Bishop likes to watch out for us. And that brings us to last night! My hair had been growing..obviously. But it had grown for a while, and I didn't like it. So I cut my own hair. That was an experience. It being the first time and all! But I enjoyed it, and now I like my short hair! And I think that brings us to this moment right now!
Oh, I would also like to say congratulations on the new baby this week!! Welcome to the family Maycie!! Congrats!
Thank you all for you emails this week! I love you all very much!! Until next week.
Love,
Elder Hamilton
