Bonjour toute le monde!
How was your week? How was your Christmas? This week was jammed packed full of good and exciting things! It passed pretty quickly, now that I look back on it! I'll start out with last Monday. I forgot in my weekly email to write about the Hard Rock Cafe! I did tell my family about it during our phone call, but I guess I can write just a little more right now. So we went to Hard Rock with Lee Cummard, the former BYU basketball player. It was super fun, and I think that he likes us, because he offered to take us again once he gets back from the states! If anyone happens to see him, tell him hey from Elder Hamilton. ;)
Anyways, I will now tell a story. So we were walking up to the church to play some basketball, when a guy starts calling to me from across the street. We cross the street, and the man starts going off about something that is wrong with his car. Because I don't know any car lingo, let alone in English, I didn't really understand. I did understand that he wanted help starting his car. So to get the car going down hill for it to be easier to start, we had to turn it around. We start to push, and start picking up speed. I then realize that it is starting to go on its own, and nobody is in the car..It started to roll down the street heading straight for the houses and cars! We rushed to the other side to try and catch the car, as the man jumped into the car and pulled the emergency brake. We were then able to straighten out the car, and push it down the hill and help get his car started! Oh man, that was fun! I love service. Even if we almost pushed his car into the side of the road into a lamp post.
Next, Christmas!! So Christmas was great. We got up and left to go to a members house. That is where we watched their little kids open all of their presents! It was fun to see the little kids so excited for Christmas!! Then we were surprised with two gifts of our own! Lucky charms and peanut butter. So good! Then we had breakfast, as well as watched How to Train your Dragon 2. Then it was time for the big phone call! It was absolutely great to talk to all of you! Then for the evening, we went to our bishops house, had a great dinner with root beer.
Anyways, my Christmas was great! Then the next day, we were back to work. We were out searching for some less-active members, when we come to the address we were looking for. It was a rest home. Elder Nelson didn't want to go in, but I said we should to look for our member! We walked in, and a lady asked if she could help us. We told her we were looking for someone, and then she said, "oh, you are from the funeral home? Follow me." We waited a second, slowly processing what she said, then said, "Wait what?!" We told her the name of the person we were looking for and she said, "oh, she moved, this is a place where people can leave once they are better." We were glad to hear that our member hadn't, "left." And glad we didn't follow that lady...Lets see.
It snowed this week! Some members said that this is the first time it has snowed in at least a year and a half! It was super cold, and super wet. That actually leads quite nicely into my next story! So on this super snowy night, we were out looking for some less-actives on the very edge of our area. We found the street, and walked up it looking for the number. We walked up, and back. Up, and back. The number didn't exist! We saw a taxi parked along the side of the road, and decided to ask him if he knew if it existed. He was a nice muslim taxi driver. He said that he didn't know if it existed or not, but that he had a gps and could look. He said, hop in! We can go look for it. Free of charge! We were super cold and wet. So we hopped in his nice, warm, dry car. He drove us up and down the street searching for the number, but with no luck either. He let us out, and we went on our way. He was a super nice guy. That was the whole story.
Yesterday, I wiped out on some ice. We were waiting for the tram, and I saw some ice on the ground. I decided to try and break it, so I stomped on it..and then I was on the ground? It happened so fast. The other Elders said that it looked just like how a cartoon would fall. It looked so fake that they thought it wasn't real! But then they saw that it was no joke and that I had actually fallen..haha! No harm done though. Just a funny story! Then we had a miracle last night! We were out Coeuring, and because it is still the Christmas season, we are still offering to sing for people. And a lady let us sing for her! It was a lot of fun! We sang the 1st Noel, and after she wanted to give us money! We told her that we cant except money, and she was just amazed! Turns out that she has been to Salt Lake, and the genealogy center! Crazy small world. She insisted that she give us something, so she gave us a bag of pretzels, and sent us on our way. Singing for her was so much fun! I loved it.
Anyways..I think that is all for this week? I cant really think of anything else. Oh wait, how much money is on my account? That might be good to know..now I think that is all. Thank you so much for all that you do! I love and miss you all very much! I hope you all had a great Christmas, and have a great New Year!
Love,
Elder Hamilton
