Why hello there everybody!!
How are things going? Well everything is going good over here in France! I have more time this week, so I should be able to write everything that Id like! Last week we were super rushed because a recent convert and an ami wanted to take us to this beach, and old Bretange or something like that. It was super cool!! I will try to send some pictures along after I am done writing!! So like I kinda said, this week started out by We got to see some really chouette stuff, and take some sweet pictures!! Alright, my first story comes from Tuesday night. So we went over to the Family Fontaines house, because they needed help moving things into their attic. Service is great, first off. I love it. Next, we were walking home to make some calls, and decided to contact on the way home. Elder Cramer contacts the first guy on the way home, and he was like, "sure! come on over!" So we followed this guy to his house. For some reason, I didnt have the greatest feeling about it. So we got to this guys house, and walked up to his appartment. We walked in, and I almost died. I could literally see the smoke just hovering over everything. It we sat down, knowing that we had to get out of there pretty quickly. We tried to explain quickly why we were there and such, and then this guy pulls out a couple of beers, and more cigarettes. Thats when we left.We quickly wrapped things up, and started for home again. We contact the next guy on this bridge that leads to our appartment. And we give him a book of mormon!! I was happy to think that our night was turning around after almost being smoked out! Then I look at ELder Cramer, and think to myself, "Why does he have 2 bags? Why do I only have 1? Oh, his second one has his service clothes. Oh shoot. Where are mine?" Thats when I had realized that I left my service clothes back at the smokers house!! We turned around, not wanting to go back. We made it to the guys house, and he kindly returned my bag after a few sarcastic remarks..haha. Then we were walking home again, and found the book of Mormon we had given to that man. It was sitting on the side of the bridge. Sad day. So that was quite the interesting night. That is for sure! The next day we went to see a man named Teps. He is a tahitian man. First off, he is just super cool! Right now he is physical thearapy. While living in Hawaii, he had a surfing accident, and ran into some rocks. Apparantely the place he is at is one of the best in the world. He is a super chill, super nice guy! Then the next day, we met a man from Africa whose name is Oscar. We had a great rendez-vous with him and we taught the Restoration. At the end he said, "well, you want to know what I have to do with this? I have to ask God if its true or not." I thought, thats exactly what we wanted to ask you to do!! It was really a great rendez-vous! Hes a super nice dude. Then the next day, I had my very first experience with Raclette. Now I ahd heard rumors that raclette is super good. Now I will just confirm those rumors. It is super good. Potatoes, meat, cheese, potatoes, cheese, meat, repeat. Probably not the healthiest thing in the world, but very delicious. Friday night we had an activity at the church, where a member from the middle east cooked for everyone. I dont know what he did, but it was absolutely incredible. I felt like I could just keeping eating it forever. It was noodles, chicken, and peppers. Simple, but incredible! We played games, we ate, we watched mormon messages, and we mingled. It was a simple activity that turned out to be an incredible night! Oh wait, Friday we also got approached by some teenagers. We were walking along the street, and Elder Cramer said, "Bonjour." They were like, "Hey, we know you. We've played basketball with you before. Well, we know you are american. Would you happen to be looking for an authentic French smoke?" Elder Cramer says, "actually, we dont smoke. Are you selling?" The guy says, "NO!" and walks away. Haha, we leave, and we say, Well that guy was trying to sell us some illegal drugs. Interesting. Haha, that was just a random story for you. This week ended itself yesterday, on sunday, when i had to give a talk!! They told me that I would be giving a talk about a week ago, and that it had to be ten minutes. I was super nervous, because I didnt think that I could talk for ten minutes straight in French!! Luckly I had time to prepare, and I made it through the talk! I hope that it was alright. I was super nervous, and I think that that showed unfortunately. Well, it was another super great week here in Lorient!! I cant believe that I have already been here for over a week. That is still crazy to mean. To answer questions: I dont think that they really celebrate Valentines day over here. Its called The day of Saint Valentine, and the only celebrations that I saw were couples going out to eat at restaurants saturday night, and a few people holding flowers..nothing too big. Lets see..well I think that that is all for this week!! Thank you all! I love and miss you all very much! Have a great week!
Love,
Elder Hamilton
