Hello everyone!
Hows it going back there in the United States? All is going well here in Belgium! Another week has come and gone, and I am still amazed! Now, I bet that you are all wondering how my Thanksgiving day was, and exactly what I did! So I will start this week with all of my Thanksgiving stories.
Let's see..my first Thanksgiving story comes from Tuesday morning at District meeting. So this week for district meeting, we were allowed to take a little bit longer lunch! Because our building is pretty close to everyone, our entire zone always gathers at our building, so for this week, everyone was assigned to bring something for our Thanksgiving feast. So all together, we had turkey, potatoes, stuffing, pie, and almost everything needed for a great american thanksgiving! With everyone pitching in, it turned out to be really fun, and a great meal!
Then on thanksgiving day, we..didn't really do anything actually! It was just another day of missionary work! On thanksgiving day, we did some contacting, we passed back some old amis, and we had a rendez-vous in the evening! Our rendew-vous was with a man whom we know as DJ Right. That's not his real name, but that is what everyone calls him. His real name is E* or something! Anyways, I cant remember if I have told you about him or not, but he is an African man who has basically known the church for most of his life, but hasn't gotten baptized! The missionaries were teaching him, and had a date set up, but then he told them that they were teaching too fast and to start over. Then contact was lost! It was super hard for missionaries to get a rendez-vous and stuff like that. So we recently got back in contact with him and restarted teaching! He is a super cool guy, and super nice. So we did teach him on Thanksgiving!
Then our Thanksgiving, we celebrated on Saturday! Me and my companion decided to go buy little rotisserie chickens for lunch! So we each ate an entire chicken with some mashed potatoes that we made! That was our super exciting Thanksgiving stories! Oh wait, Thanksgiving night. I almost forgot to tell you what I had for dinner on Thanksgiving night!! Can you guess? Yeah, I had a couple of pastries. Yum. A nice eclair, with a strawberry tart. Soo good! This week I also picked up my Belgian drivers licence! So now I'm official. Now I also had a really cool and funny experience this week!
We decided to visit an old ami, so we were looking through the area book when we came across one that lived really close to us! We decided to visit her. We rang, and she buzzed us in as soon as she found out who we were! We walked up to her floor, and she told us to come in. Then she asked, "Est-ce que vous croyez en le transmission des pensees?" which means, do you believe in the transmission of thoughts? We asked her what she meant. She then continued to tell us that she had thought about us the day before, and then we showed up the very next day! It was pretty cool. She continued to tell us that she wasn't really interested, she only want us to visit her and drink some coffee or tea. Unfortunately, we cant really do that! Haha.
So that was a cool experience that I enjoyed! Lets see..we also met with Jean-Marie again this week! And he brought his fiancee this time, which surprised me! I hadn't known about her before!! We had a super good rendez-vous, and answered a bunch of questions about the Book of Mormon!! He was finally able to feel comfortable with taking a book of Mormon, and he said he wanted to read and pray about it!! Super cool! Cause that's what we want to tell people to do with the book of Mormon!! Lets see..what else? Oh yeah! Church this week was super fun. It consisted of: Talks in English, talks in french, prayers in English, prayers in french, a baby blessing in Italian, and a prayer in German. Only in Bruxelles!! I enjoyed it quite a bit!
Well, I think that that is all for this week everyone! Remember that you are all amazing, and I love and miss you all! Have a great week!
Love,
Elder Hamilton
