Hello Everybody!
How has everyone been doing this past week? I am amazed at how fast that the time has passed so quickly. The time here at the MTC is very warped, its hard to comprehend. First of all, congrats to Kyle! That is really so exciting! From the picture mum sent me in my box, it said he had my eyes! I wasn't sure if it meant my Asian eyes or my brown eyes..so I'm assuming that Kyle had a ginger Asian baby! Haha, that really is so cool. I'm excited to meet him in a couple of years! Sounds like mum has a trip planned ahead! It will be fun for her to go see Kyle and his boy! Oh man, Kyle's a papa! It sounds like all is well at home as well. I mean, Cayson being a ninja soccer guy and everything. I just never imagined him ever wearing pink...but I guess a lot changes while on a mission! But that's really awesome how he decided to just go destroy everyone in that soccer tournament. Atta kid. I wish Kira and Jake good luck, Kira with swim lessons, because you never know how everything will go, and to Jake with his interviews in Texas. Well this at the MTC was just another week!
I do think my French is progressing. Little by little. I still struggle to formulate what to say, but its getting better! I was never any good at expressing myself in English, so trying to say exactly what I want to say in French is pretty tough, but like I said, it's definitely getting better! So we had our last lesson with our first investigator Sebastien this last week. We said goodbye. We were sad to leave him. But surprise!! The next day we found out that Sebastien (who's name wasn't really Sebastien) was now one of our teachers! We were all stoked to hear that.
I guess we all just taught him so much about the church, that he is now one of our teachers..yeah. Haha. So we found out that we are going to now be teaching two new different investigators. One, Lupe, looks a lot like our first teacher, Seour Mckay, and our second investigator, Jean Pierre, looks a lot like Sebastien and Frere Rellaford. Personally, I'm kinda scared to teach Lupe, because I heard she's super hard to teach..it'll be quite the experience! You all should be glad to hear that my sleep talking, along with my French while conscience, has improved and grown. I now say our objective, as well as the first vision. I just wish I could hear myself sometime..all the other elders in my room say that I also say other stuff in my sleep, all in French. A couple have told me that they try to have conversations with me, but I guess I haven't learned how to respond yet while sleeping, so I guess that'll come with practice! This week was full of a lot more studying and preparing to teach investigators! That is what we mostly do each day here at the MTC. We were all happy when wednesday rolled around, because that means new missionaries! We are now no longer the newest missionaries at the MTC. What now!
None were French speaking though..so we're still the youngest there. But we get more French speakers tomorrow! Oh, plus, this last week we passed the 18th of July, meaning that we are officially under one month away from hopping on an airplane and flying out to Paris! Oh how the time flies! We are all super excited to get to France. We all kinda want to just go now. I guess there is still a lot to learn, but I think there's a lot to learn in France as well. Anyways, the point of that was to say that I'm excited for France! I do have some sad news though. We found out yesterday that we will not be flying to San Fransico. Apparently the church has a deal with France for missionaries now, so all the missionaries going to France haven't had to go to San Fran for like five months. They said we still might go, but if there isn't something majorly wrong with our visas, then we will be staying here in Provo for the next month. We all wanted to go to San Fran, because here in the MTC, you are about as isolated from the world as you can get. Nobody hears any news except from letters and emails! Seour Mckay told us if we ever wanted to start a rumor, then the MTC was the place to do it because no one would know any better!
On Sunday, before church, we were in our classroom studying, when a member of our branch presidency came in the room and asked if he could meet with me. It turns out that he wanted to call me as our district's new district leader! So now I get to do all sorts of exciting things such as get the mail, go to district leader meetings, and talk to all the Elders in my district if they need to talk to somebody. It's pretty exciting. Everyone here at the MTC looks forward to sundays because we always get to hear a devotional. We walked to the Marriot center and got to listen to T.C. Christenson, who is some film director or something, and has worked on a bunch of church films. He was a great speaker, and he talked to us a lot about miracles and pioneers. Which reminds me, I hope you all have a wonderful pioneer day on Thursday! Anyways, we always look forward to devotionals! Yes, I did receive my box! I checked the mail, hoping to get it, but it wasn't there. We walked back to our room, and there it was sitting in front of my door! It was a nice surprise. Mail is cherished here at the MTC! So thank you so much for the box. We took some pictures with the flag, so I'll be sure to send a few home. I don't think I'll fill up a whole card while I'm here, but I'm willing to do whatever with the picture cards. Well, I think that that was mostly everything that happened here at the MTC! Thank you all to those who send letters, DearElders, and emails! They are awesome! I love hearing from everyone! So until next week!
Lots of Love,
Elder Hamilton
