On March 5, 2014, Kevin received his mission call. Many guesses were made about where he would be called. Many thought Africa (although Dad said that wasn't an option) and many thought state-side. But, when he opened the call, we all knew Paris France was the right place for him.
Kevin is an extremely wonderful young man. When my parents were asking how many would be attending his call opening, he responded with a shrug of the shoulders and a grunt I can only assume in teenage boy means, "I don't know." When the time came for the call to be opened, there proved to be more people than anyone would have expected! The living room, dining room, and most of the kitchen were full. I don't think he would ever admit it, but he is a pretty popular kid. And it isn't the popularity you'd expect. He wasn't the student body president, the class clown, or the star quarterback. Kevin is just a genuinely good person, and I believe people are drawn to that. Ever since he was little, he has been a kind and thoughtful boy. Not much of that has changed. I believe that goodness in him will help him while he is out. He truly shines with the light of Christ. I know he will do great things.
